We offer a friendly, fast-paced environment with plenty of room for career advancement, great benefits, and a strong team of professionals.   Sureway Construction Group of Companies is currently hiring an Underground Operations Coordinator for our projects in Edmonton.    Description Working within the Undergrounds(UG) department as an Operations Coordinator, this role will be responsible for coordinating and ensuring the 24 hour plan is being executed by the sub-contractors within UG Operations, coordinating between various UG contractors, providing information to the UG Project Manager and Superintendent, and validating operational results.   Responsibilities The responsibilities of the Underground Operations Coordinator include, but are not limited to: - Reporting to the Underground Project Manager, the successful operationally focused candidate will be an integral part of ensuring efficient planning and scheduling of crews. - Coordinate decision making and prioritize daily tasks for the U/G crew supervisors and workforce to ensure schedules are delivered and priorities are met. - Implement appropriate modifications to schedules when emergencies occur. - Coordinating and managing scheduling conflicts between sub-contractors. - Exercise decisive authority over course of action and coordinate the new tasks when the plan cannot be followed or an emergency happens. - Ensure the progress of assigned tasks are updated and coordinate between U/G Sites/Projects. - Review the variance to assigned tasks and ensure the plan is correctly prioritized for the next shift, ie, continually adjust course so critical path items are met. - Create and promote a safe working environment underground by capturing and communicating relevant information about the work areas. - Direct the efforts to locate and communicate with all key personnel in U/G during an emergency. - Ensuring all safety practice and procedures are followed by following all site-specific safety protocols. Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience: - At least 5 years of Underground field experience required. - Construction Engineering Technology degree/diploma combined with technical skills. - Familiar with Heavy Civil Construction methodology and best practices required. - Effective leadership skills with a strong focus on operations and business processes Underground supervisory experience. - Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Excel and Work. - Aptitude for planning and prioritization. - Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. - Ability to provide training and coaching to individuals. - Self-directed with the ability to work well within a team. In addition, assist the CCTV team for pipeline inspections.   Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the Flusher Operator include, but are not limited to: - Operate and maintain a combo unit and various tools - Work alongside the swamper – 80% of the day outside the truck, boots on ground. - Daily duty includes flushing of new or existing sanitary/storm sewer; or other related underground utilities.   - Assist the CCTV team for pipeline inspections. - Ability to enter underground confined space, if necessary. - Complete minor maintenance and checks on equipment - Ensure safety for all team members and equipment - Valid First aid, confined space, fall arrest H2S alive would be asset - Provide sewer flushing services to customers in accordance with Yellowhead Inspections procedures and customer requirements. - Care for and maintain company equipment to Yellowhead Inspections standards. - Complete daily inspection and correct or report all defects immediately. - Maintain a legal drivers logbook. - Practice proper legal load securement. - Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics. We offer a friendly, fast paced environment with plenty of room for career advancement, great benefits, and a strong team of professionals.   Sureway Construction Group of Companies is currently hiring a Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic in Edmonton.   Description: Reporting to the Foreman, the job of the Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic is to repair and maintain all equipment in a safe, timely and cost efficient manner.   Responsibilities: - Ensuring that all equipment is continually maintained at the highest standards, and in a timely manner, resulting in proper function and availability. - Conduct performance and quality checks according to procedure. - Ability to read/trouble shoot and diagnose using hydraulic and electronic schematics.   - Perform preventative, planned and unplanned maintenance, repair, overhaul, trouble shoot and test mechanical and electronic equipment according to company standards. - Promote image and safety awareness; follow policies and procedures on quality, health, safety and environment. - Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics. Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics. - Participate as a vital team member, and contribute towards the success of the organization, which may involve the provision of other technical and administrative support, as required. - Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas. - Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives, as required. - Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture. - Attend daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections. - Work with the Foreman/Safety Department to investigate damage, incidents or near misses on the worksite, and ensure proper procedures are carried out according to the Company’s Safety Program. - Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others. - Capable of working independently, as well as, in a team environment.  Adept to efficiently and effectively working unsupervised. - Capable of working in a physically demanding multi-tasking work environment. - Demonstrate a high attention to detail, be extremely organized and have the ability to reliably document failures and repairs. Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience: - Must be a Red Seal Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician – Off Road or equivalent. - Must have between (5) and (10) years' Journeyperson experience at a minimum  - Off Road experience is REQUIRED.  - 5 years Field experience is REQUIRED - Experience with CAT E.T. and S.I.S. is REQUIRED. CATERPILLAR EXPERIENCE required: - D6 - D10 dozer experience - 20 - 85 metric ton excavator experience - 14 - 16 series grader experience - 627 and or 657 scraper experience KOMATSU EXPERIENCE required: - D85 - D375 dozer experience - Pc 200 - Pc 1250 excavator experience - Wa 200 - Wa 600 loader experience - CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support - Ability to work in physically demanding conditions. - Successful candidates are required to have reliable personal transportation, a valid driver’s license (non GDL), and must successfully pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing. - Candidates may be subject to criminal record checks depending on site requirements.
