  Intermediate Civil Estimator   Sureway is one of Alberta’s largest heavy construction contractors, with over 50 years’ experience, involved in; civil earthworks and grading, utilities and offsite, mine operation and aggregate extraction.     We are currently recruiting for an Intermediate Civil Estimator.   Location: Edmonton, AB (on-site)   Intermediate Civil Estimator Essential Functions & Responsibilities: - Assist with the preparation and coordination of full cost estimates on conceptual, design-build or general tendered work on projects of various scales. - Assist with the review of project plans, specifications and, contract documents to determine what is required for each individual project. (Equipment, labor, materials etc.) - Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc. - Review tenders and contracts, for completeness and correctness. - Job cost various projects to determine accuracy of bids. - Determine estimated construction durations for job forecasting and project scheduling. - Prepare progress reports for payments for interim and total work completed on projects. - Interact directly with owners, engineers, inspectors or, approving authority during all phases of design, approval, and construction to ensure constructability of projects. - Prepare material takeoffs for quotes and cost estimates by obtaining and manage quotes from suppliers and subcontractors on various scopes within projects. - Drafting – Prepare shop drawing, as-built drawings, traffic accommodation plans. - Support other department personnel with cost estimates, material procurement, and other day to day tasks.   Intermediate Civil Estimator Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience: - Must have a Civil or Construction Engineering Technologist Diploma or a Civil Engineering Degree. - Previous experience in a Civil or Construction Industry preferred. - Proficiency using estimating software Bid2Win preferred. - Advanced Microsoft Office knowledge is required. - Ability to effectively communicate with different stake holders. - Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. - Follow instructions with minimum supervision and be able to thrive in a fast-paced, team environment. - Capable of working in a multi-tasking work environment with shifting priorities.   Sureway offers a fantastic opportunity to join a leading team in the heavy construction industry.     Lawyer – In House   Sureway is one of Alberta’s largest heavy construction contractors, with over 50 years’ experience, involved in; civil earthworks and grading, utilities and offsite, mine operation and aggregate extraction.     Reporting to the In-House General Counsel, the Lawyer will be responsible for providing legal advice and risk management on a wide array of legal issues across the corporate group with a primary focus on the Heavy Construction and Infrastructure industry. The Lawyer will provide guidance and opinions on certain best industry practices and will ensure compliance as required.   Location: Edmonton, AB (on-site)   Lawyer Essential Functions & Responsibilities: - Ensure Compliance with Government Legislation. - Advise on legal responsibilities. - Identify Risk. - Oversee Risk Management activities. - Review and Prepare legal documents. - Retain and manage and assist external counsel as required. - Maintain minute books and document files. - Research and prepare Memos. - Preparing, reviewing and negotiating company contracts, requests for proposals and other legal documents.  - Consulting with management, commercial advisors, tax experts, accountants, HR, and marketing staff.  - Negotiating and drafting commercial and contractual agreements and advising on employment matters.  - Developing the organization's policies on industry-specific issues, corporate governance or regulatory affairs. - Liaise with Senior Staff.   Lawyer Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience: - Must be a member in good standing of Law Society of Alberta. - Licensed to practice law in Alberta. - 3-5 years of relevant work experience in a firm. - Strong knowledge of legal concepts, principles, and terminology. - Critical thinking, analysis, and research skills are essential. - Ability to read, interpret and apply legal documentation, laws or legislation. - Strong sense of ethics and the ability to handle sensitive or private information with tact and discretion; knowledge of data privacy laws. - Superior interpersonal skills and mentality to interact with management, coworkers, and external agencies across a wide variety of topics in a fast-paced environment. - Proficiency with MS Office. - Excellent writing skills, including proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation for complex documentation. - Superior time management skills, multi-tasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision. - High level of sound and independent judgment, reasoning, and diplomacy. - Resourcefulness and flexibility. - Professional, responsive, and positive work attitude is critical.   Work Conditions - Ability to attend and conduct meetings and presentations. - Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals. - Working with tight deadlines. - Overtime as required.    Sureway offers a fantastic opportunity to join a leading team in the heavy construction industry.
