- Supervise heavy equipment operators, and labourers
- Coordinate and schedule activities
- Recommend staffing actions and arrange for training
- Familiar with Heavy Civil Construction methodology and best practices required.
- Effective leadership skills with a strong focus on operations and business processes.
- Ability to plan and manage to a project schedule.
- Ability to anticipate stakeholder needs, investigate the underlying causes and identify short/long term solutions.
- The following training courses are required: Leadership for Safety Excellence, Prime Contractor, CSTS-09, H2S Alive, Ground Disturbance Level 2, and WHMIS.

- Ensure scraper is in proper gear, and is not moving too fast for working conditions.
- Ensures proper use of the cushion hitch while operating the scraper.
- Demonstrate an understanding of grades and interpret roadway plans and drawings.

Topman Responsibilities:
- Inspection of materials and piping.
- Oversea installation of piping in the trench.
- Complete checks on grade and alignment.
- Shoot with a rod and level.
- Shoot grade with transit.
- Direct and signal heavy equipment operators.
- Install and repair a variety of water and sewer lines.
- Perform manual and labour intensive tasks as assigned.
- Direct placement of concrete into forms or onto surfaces according to grade.
- Level top surface according to grade and depth specification.
- Load and unload tools, materials and equipment.
- Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Topman in Water and Sewer.
- Experience Shooting grades with a Rod and Level and or Batterboards.
- Ability to work in physically demanding work conditions

- Responsible for lining up the concrete pipe with the connecting pipe.

PIpelayer Helper Qualifications:

Description:
Reporting to the Foreman, the Pipelayer is responsible for assembling, connecting and constructing pipe systems for storm or sanitation sewers, drains and water mains. Ensures ground is prepped and trenches dug out for pipes. Aligns pipes and seals joints together with cement or glue.
Pipelayer Responsibilities:
- Directs activities within the trench to ensure the pipe is laid to the designed vertical and horizontal tolerances using levels or lasers.
- Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding, cementing or sealing with glue.
- Monitors backfill of pipe bedding to ensure proper haunch support.
- Assist in lot servicing and all other duties as required by Foreman.
- Install and repair sanitary and storm water, sewer structures and pipe systems.
